Wood Look Floating Shelves (with paint and stain!)

Get this “simple to do” wooden glance with paint and stain on any job from home furniture to decor!

Hello my fantastic close friends! Wow, lifetime has been so insane all-around listed here these days. SO a lot going on. I will be glad when things settle down a little bit so I can get back to all the fun projects I have planned. I hope you haven’t minded viewing some older posts I have pulled from the archive! I determine some of you may well have missed them the initial time close to so could possibly be a good time to revisit.

But currently I have acquired a new one particular for  ya! I am hoping tricky to get this corridor toilet done. (and it just about is besides for decorating and a couple remaining touches, yippee!)

Unfortunately, issues went in a little bit of a different course rather because I could not get that vainness cabinet. BUT I like how it went! At times items just perform out for the superior, adore that.

I’m not demonstrating you the entire lavatory now. I’m sharing the floating shelves that I gave a “wood look” to with paint and stain.

And as a refresher…here is how they employed to look with the outdated wall coloration.

They look fantastic in white with that wall colour.

But not so fantastic with this color…

Which is not “white-white” although it seems to be it. It is my most loved tender (not heat) white that I applied in our kitchen area, morning space and eating room downstairs.
It is a color by Benjamin Moore named Pure White. I experienced it colour matched at Sherwin Williams while.

I knew I preferred them to have a wooden glimpse since of anything else I have going on in listed here. There are a number of means to do it but I made the decision to do it similar to how I recently did the tub cupboard in our downstairs visitor bath. You can see it here … Coastal Guest Tub Refresh

I did do one little small matter different on these however. I’ll display ya! )

I commenced by taping the shelves up with my absolute favored tape.

Then I painted them with the Cobblestone paint connected previously mentioned.

And then the more stage that I did this time…dry brushing on some of the “Ash” coloration. (see it previously mentioned?)

And below…

I just thought that may give it a little bit much more dimension like true wooden has underneath the stain.
I think it was a superior choice. Much more may well have been even better.

Once that was dry (I let it sit right away considering that it is h2o based mostly and the stain is oil dependent) I used the stain. (with a lint free rag)

See the base a person I stained? The top just one is even now just paint.
Isn’t that the coolest? I love how it looks wooden-ish. And oh so merely far too!

So substantially much better than white. There is a good deal of white heading on in listed here by now, the cabinets didn’t need to be white far too! lol

I’m so pleased with how they turned out. That Driftwood stain is versitile, I notify ya!
And a person of the darker stains I offer in the store would function properly as well if you are likely for a darker wooden appear.

By the way, this is not the ultimate styling of the shelves, I just threw that up there for the pictures.
May possibly be close to that while, we’ll see!
