Hi pricey viewers (if there are any readers left)! What transpired to running a blog? If only I understood. I have missing a bit my mojo I imagine. Also this electronic existence has turn into very draining – I type of experience it far more and more just after practically three yrs of freelancing and largely doing work by myself from home. Never get me incorrect, I am satisfied, I like what I do. But sometimes I experience like it is also repetitive, it is far too superficial, it is irrelevant, monotonous – did I mention repetitive? Perfectly even the text right here turn out to be recurring.

At times I wallow in memories and obtain it all rather astonishing. Not several of you will know, but I studied intercontinental company administration and economics and when I was a scholar social media was not a issue however. I feel it was the early ages of some college student networks such as early Facebook and some German counterparts that I knew as an individual residing and studying in Austria. Imagining a specialist profession in the electronic environment or extra specifically in the sphere of social media was just unimaginable. And still below I am, full time influencer. Oh how I despise the word. I really do. Influencer? As if I am sitting at property and building conspiratorial plans on how to impact and seduce you. You know, like purchase this, invest in that, insert a lot more plants (okay guilty for the latter at the very least).

I have consciously picked out this ‘career’ path. Do you see how I put the word career in quotation marks? Yup, since I usually require to encourage myself that this is my task now. That this IS a job at all. However I marvel: Is it actually a career? Or am I just lucky to be using the digital wave and getting discovered my specialized niche to make my living with it? I occasionally have a tendency to overlook the path that led me to the place I am currently. Years and many years of non cease blogging (of course back again then I blogged 6 situations a 7 days) and frequent networking on Twitter (these were being the a long time). And all of this I did for years in a row although also possessing a full time occupation in PR and advertising and marketing organizations (with all the glamour of piling surplus hours and shoddy pay). Those people were times in which I would start out functioning at 9 am and complete at house at just one or two am. Heading to bed, waking up, and undertaking all of it yet again the subsequent day. For yrs and years. And then I little by little managed to build my website, my social media existence, create a local community of plant fans, compose one e-book , then yet another, get the job done on layout and styling jobs, give lectures, host courses and so on. And now I am a freelancer. Whole time ‘influencer’. Comprehensive time operating from household. Full time wanting to know if this is really relevant and satisfying. A lot of whole here. Repetitive and recurring.

I just reread my final paragraph and I do get the thought that this may sound a little bit negative or disillusioned. But neither is accurate to be straightforward. I am pleased, I like what I do, I just ponder if this is what I want to do for the future decades to appear. I wrote textbooks. I did style and design jobs. I labored as a speaker and course host. So what is future? I do not know myself but I want anything new to look on the horizon. A thing that would challenge me once again and stimulate my creativeness and know-how. In the meantime relaxation certain that I am happily sharing what inspires me and what retains me heading creatively – mainly on Instagram (and indeed, I prefer the phrase inspirator more than influencer). But I want to be way extra active here on the web site way too from now on (thanks Holly from Decor8 for frequently reminding me of running a blog). It previously feels more significant creating a for a longer period text than just a few strains of an IG caption. And no matter whether or not anyone is examining this – it will be out there riding the digital wave and whoever surfs by, get pleasure from the ride and the read!
